FANTASTIC NEWS :Buhari hosts IGP Arase, breaks Ramadan fast

President Muhammadu Buhari has hosted the outgoing Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to a dinner at the Aso Rock presidential villa on June 20.

President Buhari with Solomon Arase The president thanks the outgoing IGP for a job well done. Arase who was appointed IG by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan in April 2015, will attain the mandatory retirement age of 60 on June 21 after serving for 35 years.

BREAKING NEWS :FG Suspends The Tenure Policy In Civil Service

the the The Federal Government says it has suspended the tenure policy in the Federal Civil Service with immediate effect. This was stated in a press release issued by the Director communication at the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation on Monday. He said that the directive was contained in a circular to all Ministries Departments and Agencies signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita. The circular which conveyed the President’s directive on the suspension said the suspension is with immediate effect and all concerned are to comply accordingly with the directive.

Breaking: Former NNPC GMD, Jide Omokore arrested by EFCC

U Oil magnate, Jide Omokore, has been rearrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Premium Times reports.

According to Sahara Reporters, Andrew Yakubu the former group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) and Omokore before will be arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja on four counts of money laundering.

According to EFCC insiders, other defendants in the case are Victor Briggs, Abiye Memnere, David Mbanefo, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited.
The anti-corruption agency detained Omokore over the weekend over allegations that he connived with former Nigerian oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke to steal billions of dollars in shady oil transactions.
Omokore is the chairman and founder of Energy Resources Group (ERG), one of Nigeria’s largest privately-held conglomerates. ERG has interests in oil trading and exploration, haulage services, steel, dredging engineering and property development

Meanwhile, the federal government has succeeded in compelling Omokore, to cough up $14m (roughly N2.8 billion). The figure comes from the crude oil royalties his company failed to remit to the federal treasury. Insider sources said the funds were supposed to have been paid between 2011 and 2012 by Atlantic Energy which was awarded oil assets by the Goodluck Jonathan government shortly after it was incorporated in 2010.
The money was finally paid into the federal government’s account with JP Morgan Chase on January 29 after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) began to investigate the company.

Buhari plans to harrass more PDP leaders with EFCC - Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has told the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop harassing his government by threatening functionaries of the government with arrest and looking for how his election was funded, declaring that; “my election was not funded with public fund and President Buhari and his APC should also tell Nigerians how their own elections were funded.”
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Governor Fayose said; “Certain top functionaries of the Ekiti State government and some important members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, and some associates of mine, have now been pencilled down for arrest and indefinite detention by the EFCC under the guise of investigating the funds spent by the PDP on the June 21, 2014 governorship election and the Presidential election.”
He disclosed that “some politicians from Ekiti State, including an Ekiti born Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and self-professed human rights activist and a Special Adviser to the Vice President are involved in the plot being coordinated through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Attorney General of the Federation .”


He said the game plan was to make those to be arrested get detained indefinitely, forced them to make statements incriminating him, while at the same time feeding the public with orchestrated fake reports,
using their usual media organs.
The governor however advised those behind the plot “to keep their gun power dry and should not be in a hurry, but rather, wait till the end of my tenure in 2018.
He challenged the EFCC to tell Nigerians why it was silent on the many petitions submitted to it against APC leaders, especially former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Meanwhile, Fayose has revealed how his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, who is now a minister in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari plunged Ekiti state into debt.
Fayose revealed this after he could no longer pay workers salary and pension of retirees in the state.
In a breakdown of Ekiti state allocation form the federation account from December 2015 to May 2016, Fayose said the APC government of Kayode Fayemi did not pay May, June and July 2014 Cooperative and Unions Deductions

President Muhammadu Buhari has landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja around 5:30pm on June 19, after spending 13 days in the United Kingdom.

On arrival, Buhari inspected a guard of honour mounted by men of the Guards Brigade.
With the elaborate airport ceremonies over, the president and some top aides left for the presidential villa.
While the leader of the nation was asked about his health status, President Buhari said that he was okay.
“You have seen me. You saw me when I was going. You can do the assessment yourself.
“I am okay. You can see me inspecting the guard of honour. You can see I am taller than you. Do you want to wrestle with me, you can do so ,” Buhari said.
The president departed Abuja for the British capital, London, on June 6.
Initially the trip was planned as a 10-day vacation. The medical check-up with an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist was scheduled for the president. However, the duration of Buhari’s stay was unexpectedly prolonged.

The president was examined and treated by his personal physician and an ENT specialist in Abuja, but both doctors recommended further check-up abroad ‘purely as a precaution’.
The Nigerian leader had a number of meetings and discussions while on holiday. Buhari met the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu, the prominent Yoruba monarch Oba Sikiru Adetona and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

Breaking: APC governorship candidate emerges in Edo election, wins by landslide margin

When the APC governorship primaries was about commencing formally on Saturday, June 18, the election committee chairman, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state, assured the delegates that the committee will be fair and just to all.
After the primaries was concluded very late, Governor Masari, who oversaw the conduct of the election declared Obaseki winner out of his fellow aspirants around 4:05am on Sunday, June 19.

It was not just only about the Edo state economic and strategy team boss, who contested the APC governorship primary election, but there were other 11 contestants with him, when the primaries began on Saturday, June 18 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the state capital.
The other major aspirants were Dr Pius Odubu, the current deputy governor; a former governor and former senator, Professor Oserhiemen Osunbor, as well as a former Minister of State for Works, Chris Ogiemwonyi



The other aspirants who made up the numbers were: Maj-Gen Charles Airhiavbere (retd.), Kenneth Imasuagbon, Peter Esele, Tina Agbarha, Blessing Agbomere, Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula, Professor Ebegue Amadasun and Austin Emuan.
Punch informed that after the election was concluded, Obaseki got a total of 1,618 votes to win by a landslide margin over the other contestants. His closest rival was the deputy governor, who came a distant second with 471 votes.
Imasuagbon and Ogiemwonyi had 247 and 137 to settle for third and fourth places, respectively.
While, Airhiavbere got 11 votes while Arigbe-Osula had 10 votes. Other results are Esele (eight votes), Amadasun (eight votes), Emuan (seven votes) and Agbomere (five votes) in that order.
The only female aspirant in the election was Agbarha. She had a total of three votes.
The total number of votes cancelled was 41.
Prior to the primaries, the had been rumours that Obaseki was the anointed candidate of Governor Oshiomhole, based on the endorsement of the newly emerged APC governorship candidate by APC lawmakers in the House of Representatives and Senate, as well as various sociopolitical groups in Edo state.
The election committee chairman revealed that voting would be done by thumbprinting on the ballot paper which bears the images of the 12 aspirants, adding that the delegates were expected to thumbprint on the ballot paper with the image of the candidate of their choice.
The Katsina state governor advised the contestants, their agents and party delegates to see the primary as a family affair, as there would be no “loser.”
Masari stated: “The aspirants are 12 in number; out of the 12, one of them must emerge as the candidate. If he emerges, he will need the other 11 for him to face the general election.
“So, there is no loser in this contest. We consider all of you that are participating as winners.”
