STOP HIDING IN HOTELS, TAMBUWAL WARNS COUNCIL CHAIRMEN
Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Wednesday warned local government chairmen in the state against abandoning their jobs and hiding in hotels in Sokoto and its environs. The governor gave the warning while swearing in newly-elected chairmen of the 22 local government areas of the state in Sokoto.
”The previous nefarious habit of some of your predecessors who abandoned their various local governments and hid in hotels in Sokoto as well as other hideouts will no longer be tolerated. “Any council chairman who is found wanting in this direction will be dealt with accordingly. ” You must stay in your respective local governments and deliver the needed social services to the people. ”You must be good ambassadors of the APC and the state government as well as be God-fearing and accountable.
”You must also uphold the sterling tenets of democracy and justify the confidence reposed in the APC, and work with the civil servants, security agencies and traditional rulers,” he said. He called on them to prioritize the sectors of education, agriculture, health, youths and women empowerment as well as maintenance of peace and security.
Tambuwal directed the chairmen to immediately swear-in the councillors-elect to enhance good governance and service delivery to the people.
The governor also swore in Mr Kabiru Ibrahim as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice and Alhaji Maikudi Dogon-Daji as Director-General, Protocol. He charged the permanent secretary and the director-general to justify the confidence reposed in them, saying that their appointments were based on merit.
