Tension: Niger Delta Avengers gives final warning to 7 governors “We will attack”
The Niger Delta Avengers has issued a final chilling warning to seven governors to release pro-Biafra protesters being held in police and military custodies in their states or face the full wrath of the militants. The militant group has blown-up oil and gas pipeline in the Niger Delta region and has vowed to continue to do so until oil production in the region is grounded. The group has also shown allegiance to pro-Biafra groups and this relationship seems to be confirmed in the latest statement issued by the militant group. Premium Times reports that in a statement signed by Mudoch Agbinibo who is the spokesperson of the group, The Niger Delta Avengers gave a 72-hour ultimatum to the governors to release the pro-Biafra supporters under arrest in their states. The governors threatened are : Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Willie Obiano of Anambra, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State. The statement read: “We request the immediate release of all pro-Biafrans activist held in your various Police/Military Custody, you are hereby given 72 hours to release them or risk your convoys, police station, military base and government offices being attacked. “We are not negotiating with anybody and nobody is representing us. In 48 hours we will release a video clip showing our arms and the targeted areas. “All strike team already in position awaiting command. Meanwhile, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta on Sunday, June 2 announced the set up of the team for the talks with Federal government over Niger Delta crisis. Jomo Gbomo, the spokesperson of the group, said that the move came after useful preliminary talks held with high-ranking officials of the incumbent government.
